Sources of Glutathione

We know that glutathione is produced by the body from 3 amino acids l-cysteine, l-glutamic acid, and glycine. Any nutrient that is produced by the body is called non-essential nutrient. Any nutrient that cannot be produced by the body is called essential nutrient like vitamins that can come only from fruits and vegetables. They are called essential nutrients because we need to supply our bodies with these nutrients to keep us healthy. As we age however, non-essential nutrients become depleted because the body cannot be healthy enough to produce on its own such nutrients. Thus, we aid our bodies with nutritious food and dietary supplements.

Vitamin C helps the body to produce glutathione. That's the reason why glutathione products come with Vitamin C. There are plants and fruits however which are also good sources of glutathione. According to Drug Safety Society, food sources of glutathione are: asparagus, avocados, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, grapefruit, oranges, peaches, potatoes, purslane, strawberries, tomatoes, watermelon.
